Frequently asked questions about same-day care
-
What should I do if I may be experiencing emergency symptoms?
If you think you may be experiencing any conditions that may be life-threatening, you should call 911 immediately or go to your nearest emergency room for immediate in-person care. This includes acute symptoms, traumatic events/injuries, and mental and psychological distress.
-
What are the differences between an eVisit and a Video Visit?
Baylor Scott & White offers multiple convenient virtual care options to fit your healthcare needs and schedule. Both eVisits and Video Visits are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can get started by logging into your account on My.BSWHealth.com or using the MyBSWHealth app.
An eVisit can be started at any time. Simply complete a brief online questionnaire about your symptoms (this should take between 5-10 minutes). You’ll then receive a diagnosis and/or prescription within one hour. Your responses are evaluated by a Baylor Scott & White provider who will access your medical record and can prescribe medication, as needed, as part of your virtual telemedicine eVisit.
Video Visits allow you to complete a face-to-face visit with your primary care doctor, specialist, or an on-call provider to treat various issues and conditions. All you need is a stable internet connection and a camera-enabled device. You can schedule a video visit directly through MyBSWHealth or call your doctor to determine if a video visit is right for you.
Through an eVisit or Video Visit, we can help coordinate follow-up testing or imaging and provide guidance on treatment and medication. However, blood tests, urine analysis, imaging, and other screenings are unavailable virtually and will require an in-person visit.
-
What should I expect in terms of insurance coverage and out-of-pocket cost for same-day care?
For urgent care and walk-in clinics, your co-pay is usually the same as any primary care office visit.
Insurance coverage for Video Visits can vary, but we recommend that you search for providers in your insurance network via our Find Care tool. For eVisits, the estimated out-of-pocket cost is typically $40. If you are waiting for an eVisit or Video Visit, you will not be charged until you receive service.
-
How soon can I see a provider in-person?
If you need (or prefer) to see a provider in person for non-emergency illnesses or injuries, we’ve got you covered. You can visit one of our urgent care centers or search for locations that accept walk-ins near you, with no appointment necessary, to see the next available provider.
-
Can I get a prescription renewal or refill online through same-day care?
Yes! Same-day in-person or virtual visits can help you get a new or existing prescription quickly and easily. We recommend trying an eVisit for convenient access to medication for minor, routine, or chronic conditions. Log in or create an account on MyBSWHealth to get started.
You can also manage prescriptions, order refills, and transfer prescriptions between pharmacies. Learn more about our pharmacy services.
