The Baylor Scott & White Health and Wellness Center classes
We offer members classes that are designed to focus on being active, healthy eating, understanding prescriptions, problem-solving, reducing health risks and managing stress.

Get involved
During your first visit, the wellness team will guide you through the process of becoming a member. You will need to:
- Complete a New Member application
- See a physician, nurse practitioner and/or a diabetes educator
- Complete a health screening
- Discuss a plan for your healthcare

Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES)
Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES)
A series of four group sessions is offered in English and Spanish, designed to help those with diabetes learn skills that support their health. The program addresses the ADCES (Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists) seven self-care behaviors of healthy eating, being active, monitoring, taking medication, problem solving, healthy coping and reducing risks. Additional support is also available. A physician/provider referral is required.

Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)
The Baylor Scott & White Health and Wellness Center offers nutrition counseling and education to help participants meet health goals or manage:
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Weight
- Digestive disorders
Registered dietitians/nutritionists are available in English and Spanish. During visits, the dietitian will help participants build a healthy lifestyle and/or develop a nutrition plan.
Note: MNT services require a provider referral

A physician-led walking program for patients and members that encourages physical activity and learning about health topics in a fun, group setting. The program is a local chapter of a national program.
