What is non-melanoma skin cancer?

Non-melanoma skin cancer refers to all cancers that occur in the skin that are not melanoma. There are different types of non-melanoma skin cancer, such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma and Kaposi sarcoma.

The Baylor Scott & White Health team is experienced in detecting, identifying and removing your skin cancer lesions, including basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas. We use the current diagnostic services and treatment techniques to classify and remove your skin cancer lesions before they become more serious.

Your treatment plan will be determined by your care team based on age, medical history, type and stage of non-melanoma skin cancer, and personal preferences. Non-melanoma skin cancer treatment options may include:

Skin Malignancy Research and Treatment Center and the Skin Cancer Center

The Skin Malignancy Research and Treatment Center, located at Baylor Scott & White Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center – Dallas, and the Skin Cancer Center at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Irving combine the expertise of dermatologists, medical and surgical oncologists on the medical staff to provide a destination for the screening, evaluation, research and treatment of malignant skin conditions.

Skin cancer clinics

In Central Texas, Baylor Scott & White offers a variety of medical and surgical skin cancer therapies to treat most skin cancers at the College Station Clinic, Round Rock Specialty Clinic and Waco Clinic. More advanced skin cancer procedures may be referred to the Temple Northside Clinic.
